Cut Edge Corrosion

Cut Edge Corrosion can affect metal cladding when the factory coating at the edges of the panel fails. The metal substrate that is exposed is prone to rusting and corrosion. The majority of cases occur on roof cladding. If left over time the cut edge  can cause leaks within the building leading to an increase of cost for maintenance.
Cut Edge Protection method:
·         Remove all loose delaminating plastisol by high pressure jet wash and remove rust. Badly corroded sheets may need replacement.
·         Coat the edge a minimum of 5cm past junction and coat bolts and any fixings.
·         Apply Elastofill after drying of paint. Ensure Elastofill is forced into gap to a minimum of 5mm.
·         Apply specialist paint in two coats.
